Don't Worry, Be Happy

I'm finding that I have to remind myself of this little saying a lot more than I used to. I wish we could take all the worry and pity parties away, but I guess we wouldn't get relief like we need to. Last night Tiffanie, my cousin-in-law, and I watched two amazing movies...

August Rush and No Reservations

Perfect movies for how I've been lately with putting pressures of too many things on my plate. I know you can relate, because we are human...naturally drawn to the state of overload with no time.

I want to make a stand....and start worrying less and just being happy. Life doesn't always work out how we'd like it, but God works it out to His perfect plan. I know I won't always have a good day. I'll cry now and again, but I still will reflect on the positive...at some point in there and SMILE....while praising God for my many blessings!

I hope this little blog post finds you thinking about your blessings....even in the midst of a storm. Everything works out eventually...just not quite in our time frame.

We will be going overseas in about 3 weeks, which is pretty cool. I'm excited and ready to go! I hope I stop and relish in the wonders around me.....because life is too fast and short not to stop at least once a day. Lots of Love!

In a sermon I listened to yesterday, the speaker said that all sin is rooted in fear. Worry is fear, and is even specifically listed as a sin in the Bible. The best antidote for fear is gratitude. I am learning that each time I have a feeling or am tempted to complain about something that is worrisome or angry, if I will think about the aspects of the situation for which I am thankful, and there are always reasons to be grateful, that I can do overcome my feelings of sorrow, anxiety, anger or fear.

It has to come from your heart, though. Knowing who you are in Christ, what He has done for you and that you are qualified for all the promises God ever made to anyone, puts you in a position to believe Him and receive all the good things He has for you.

I know you will overcome your worry and anxiety and learn to give thanks in all things. Setting your mind to do so is a very important first step. And, I am pulling for you!

Chrissy-I miss seeing you running! I'm with you on the worry/anxiety struggle, but learning to rest in Him and not be performance driven is so freeing. Even today, had a crummy run at St. Pat's race but made myself be grateful for a healthy, injury free body and even be thankful for the will to be out there when so many people were home taking it easy. I hope to see you some Saturday before you go to Europe.

Here's a few verses for you:
"do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me--practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you." (Phi 4:6-9 ESV)
