RACE FOR THE CURE

On September 20th, some of us joined Michael's cousin, Tiffanie, for her RACE FOR THE CURE team. This was my first official walk/exercise since my surgery occurred at the end of June. We did the 1 mile fun walk...which really was fun. I sweat my butt off! :) We had a blast...and had a scrumptious meal at Panera afterwards. I'm glad Aunt Sharon told us about the Harvest Salad...DELICIOUS! Here's some pics from the event. If anyone has not participated in this before, it's a definite must! I even bought some really cute bracelets for the cause! Help save what God gave us....WOMEN! :)

last dancing , eating (because I hadn't had much food that day), story telling and laughing. It was so good to dance again. Mind you I paid for it the next day...mixed in with the RACE FOR THE CURE walk...I had a rough start to the following week....BUT IT WAS WORTH IT! I've posted pics top enlighten you!

:) LIFE

Sorry, I took a week off from blogging. It's been a little crazy, but good lately. This week I'm in for a lot of work with not enough time. I'm not very excited, except for the fact that three things will take place this week on top of it all.....1. I am back to walking and feeling a lot better. 2. My mom is coming to spend the night and hang out with me on Wednesday all day! 3. There's another home game this Saturday (go pokes)! So, I need lots of prayers to get me through this week.

I do need some extra special prayers going up for Michael and myself. I really thought I could be pregnant this month...all the signs and time lines were coming together...we should know either way what's going on. I had an emotional day today....I think just all of it consuming me. It's a good lesson for me though. Just when we think we have it together...we probably don't and that's okay. God is so good to get us through it all. Though my #1 thing right now would be pregnancy.....

but I have to look at how good I have it now....with or without the pregnancy. There are so many things that go on around me that I do not understand....but like my Pastor said...sometimes there's just not an answer! :0 ) I hope and pray that you all have a fabulous week. You are in my prayers! Lots of love sent your way!

The Countdown Begins

Oh yes...what helps make the stress melt away here on earth....tv shows are a small part! The countdown begins for all our favorite shows. Yes, Michael and I became tv junkies over the last couple of years. We have so many...it's not even funny. Having DVR is awesome. You can watch more shows in less time. Okay, I probably shouldn't be happy about that, but I am. It's an escape from reality, plus the entertainment savings that takes place is astronomical! :0) In honor of Season Premieres, I have decided to give you a breakdown (as sad as the quantity that it may be) of what we might be watching over the next months on ABC, CBS, NBC, WB and any other network. Since the list is rather lengthy (sorry if you are just finding out how bad my addiction is for tv drama) I am devoting a network per day for this week until I've covered all. Remember....DVR makes it possible for us to watch this many! :)

I will start with my favorite network....ABC:

Sundays:
September 28, 8:00 p.m.

September 28, 9:00 p.m.

Mondays:
Oct. 13, 8:30 a.m.

Nothing on Fridays or Saturdays for this network!

Time Management and Stress

Today was one of those days where I had a million and one things to get done...and all needed to be done today! Needless to say...only a few of those to do items were accomplished. I was doing about 5 to 10 things back and forth today. My head hurt....still does from the exhaustion of it all.

I'm just glad that it all will come together by Friday. We have so many things, but I will say...December is looking mighty fine! :) God does work it all out. I just don't always enjoy the ride! :) I thought these cartoons say it best for today...and the past week or so.

HELLO!

I'm loving this pic of myself today. I actually took this on my cell camera phone last Friday. I was in a cowgirl mood and wore my boots! Oh the days I used to wear boots. Working at Camp Champions for the Summer of 1999, 2000 and 2001, I learned a lot about working with horses. My favorite was Scooby Doo. He was an awesome horse! Everyone that worked in the Horse Area was wonderful!

I miss my days of being in the hot Texas weather and working with those crazy horses. So many stories to cherish! The past is the past, but I love to draw back into those days....and just smile! And I will never forget driving Elvira! :)

My perspective has changed, many things have happened. I will say riding Scooby Doo was crazy. I was very adventurous and courageous more than a few times. He stood up on his hind legs a few times, but I held on and welcomed the rush! Tell me something that you used to do that you miss!

OSU Football & Whitten Women Fun!

The weekend was full of fun and excitement! The additions to the Boone Pickens Stadium is out of this world. It's very weird to see the change, but I think it is worth it! Life seems to be constantly changing for all of us! I had a blast taking pics, seeing old friends and catching up with family over the weekend. I've posted all the pics from the weekend to my facebook page. I decided to post some here. I love football season weather...we couldn't ask for better weather for our Cowboys to play in. I will say, our boys have a lot to work on. The defense is rough and needs to work out issue...just as the offense does. I don't want to see another season where our offense scores a lot and the defense lets the other team score a lot! Anyways, it was a great day. Ryan rode down with us and me met up with his fam. They are great people! On the way home, I was starving, so we stopped and ate at El Chico...thanks Ryan for the gas! :) El Chico was not my friend! Sorry to be blunt! I had to have coffee afterwards and thank goodness Ryan drove us home...Michael slept while I talked Ryan's ear off...sorry for the random conversation...I had coffee! :)

As for the Whitten Women time together...let's just say it was a day of working my abs because I laughed so much. Not sure how that works in on my "I'm not supposed to work my abs", but it was hilarious. I posted all the pics on facebook, but I'll give you four of my favs...our goal was to deliver the quilt we all made together to the Oklahoma State Fair. Yes, we safely got it there...other happenings...going the wrong way on a road (Tiff is an awesome driver...she saved us with minor injuries), Aunt Sharon got her nose cleaned out (what can I say...Tiff was on a roll to get us), Aunt Tammy can speak another language (in which the country is fascinated with Ronald McDonald) and Tiff has a year supply of honey and strawberry jam from Cracker Barrel (too funny...oh and something about cooked cabbage smelling like? (Tiff's not to favorite smell in the world! :)

Friendships are a must!

For all the people of the world, I must tell you an important component in life is to have amazing friends. Michael and I are very lucky when it comes to our family and friends. We definitely have had times where we don't get to talk to them as often as we would like, but we appreciate the moments when we do get with them.

I've been very lucky to have spent two nights at the Condit home this week. Hannah and Ryan (plus their little guys, Cody and Stephen) treated us to a fabulous meal. Hannah can really cook! From praying before our meal (which is always one of my favorite parts) to eating up the dessert, I couldn't ask for more. We told stories and laughed a lot! They are always good about sharing the boys and life with us.

We may not be able to have kids of our own, but between my brother and sister-in-law & the Condit's....we are blessed, because they see how much we enjoy time with them and their kids. It means so much! I got to help get Cody to sleep tonight. I sang some familiar songs like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Jesus Loves Me and told random stories to him. It was so precious. Bedtime is my favorite with even my niece and nephew. They get so peaceful and just sweeter during this time.

I just want those that do have kids to know just how lucky you are! Take time to enjoy the moments you have with your children. It's important to always step back and evaluate to make sure you aren't missing the blessings God has given you. I'm lucky to have great examples. I learn so much from mother's like Hannah, Kristen, Sharon, my mom and others.

Some day I will be blessed with little one's of my own. I will admit, it's going to be the biggest Hallelujah day I've ever had...because it will truly be a miracle. Keep me and other women in your prayers. I am praying for all women with or without children. May all get rest, peace and love!

4-H Family

This picture is from August 1st. We were eating at Eskimo Joe's before taking State 4-H Roundup Delegates home to Tulsa. Kathy Baab, 4-H Volunteer Leader and Parent (on my right) and Tracy Lane, Co-worker(on my left) are pictured with me. We really have a good time. I think it's essential to have good people around you. I am thankful that I am lucky enough to have so many. Life is not perfect, but it's worth the good times. I hope you enjoy your work as much as I do (with only a few times you think twice about what you are doing).

Now...seeing that I'm rocking my Cowboys shirt...go pokes!...I'm way excited about Saturdays 1st home game...may the boys be ready to work as a team and make good things happen. Our first game was a little boring, but I still am happy we got our win....defense looked great...offense needed help...so I'm praying that they worked the kinks out and are ready to rock it out! I'll be cheering them on live at Boone Pickens Stadium....I'M PUMPED!

Dragonflies

Someone was asking me the other day why I love Dragonflies so much...so I thought it would be good to blog about this very thing. Dragonflies have many meanings for me:
1. When you look down on them...they look like the cross...which reminds me of God's sacrifice.
2. They are strong fliers....which reminds me to keep flying through life even when it gets me down.
3. They are one of God's beautiful creatures.
4. They are drawn to water, just as I am.
5. They are symbolic for change....which I remember that day I discovered the dragonfly...I was needing to accept many changes happening around me....and I still have to accept that life is constantly changing!
6. Though the wind can change the course for the dragonfly, it always finds it's way for the path it's suppose to go! Life for me has been a crazy roller coaster ride, yet I keep going forward (with a few steps back).

These are just some highlights...is there anything that really catches your eye? Why?

RAIN ON ME

I know having Gutav hit certain areas is not the greatest thing, but I am loving the rain coming down! Rain is such a beautiful thing! It cleanses all that is around us. It reminds me of God's forgiveness. I've been blessed this week to get many things that have been hovering over me at work....finished. On Monday, I went into work for a few hours (I know on my day off) to completely rearrange my office. I unloaded all bookshelves, emptied drawers...and started over. I created a new system and design layout in my office.

I was tired of feeling like things were crashing in on me...so I did something about it. It's the best 3 hours I've spent on a project in a long time. I have lots more to go through, but I can BREATHE AGAIN! It looks fresh and clean....I love it! Sometimes we have to step back...empty out...and start anew before we can move forward!

So rain on me and make me new when needed! I love to feel like I've gotten somewhere and accomplished something!
