I grew up in the sixties and early seventies. You lost me on most of that stuff. I think I was about twelve when we got our first colored tv. No cell phones, no personal computers, no video games, no video rental stores, we never went out to eat except at gradma's house (now she could cook). What did we do? We entertained ourselves by playing outside. If you were lucky you could record your favorite songs off of the am radio onto a cassette tape. I never heard of that being illegal.

I am not so sure the cartoons on Saturday were still worth watching in the 80's. Now the 60's, those were some good ones!

I lived in the 80's but I don't remember most of that stuff. I do remember things being "crazes" and then being banned. At our grade school (circa 1969) we had these hard lucite balls on nylon strings attached to a lucite ring--they were called clackers. You can imagine the noise they made as you flipped them up and down, clack, clack, clack, clack... you get the picture. Well, apparently some broke. End of clackers.

Then there was the cinnamon toothpick rage. Kids were soaking wooden toothpicks in cinnamon oil and sucking on them all day. Apparently some ingested too many splinters, got burns and sores in their mouths, etc. from excessive use. End of cinnamon toothpicks.

I am sure there were others... Just don't remember them! (Yeah, another sign you didn't grow up in the 80's, but before!) :-)
